On the Domination of Kings
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we consider counting the number of ways to place kings on an k × n chessboard, such that every square is dominated by a king. Let f(k, n) be the number of dominating configurations. We consider the asymptotic behavior of the function f(k, n).

Impact of Safavid kings’ acts of power on the divergence of minorities in the second period of the Safavids based on the reports of travel logs
Writers of the travel logs in the second period of Safavid rule have given narrative accounts of the status of ethnic-religious minorities, through which the identity issue of minorities and its role in diverging them from the body of government can be identified. In these narratives, both the minority groups that entered into Iran as a result of Shah Abbas's structural policies, and the ethnic...
متن کاملIrredundance and domination in kings graphs
Each king on an n×n chessboard is said to attack its own square and its neighboring squares, i.e., the nine or fewer squares within one move of the king. A set of kings is said to form an irredundant set if each attacks a square attacked by no other king in the set. We prove that the maximum size of an irredundant set of kings is bounded between (n− 1)=3 and n=3, and that the minimum size of a ...

متن کاملSigns of power in the pictorial carpets of the Qajar era
Iranian carpets have always had a function beyond just hand- woven. By studying the designs and motifs of this valuable Iranian handicraft, it can be said that the designs and structures have some kind of roots in the culture of this land. The carpet can also be called the cultural identity of Iran. One of the most interesting functions of Iranian carpets in the Qajar period is to use it as a m...
متن کاملComputational methods and new results for chessboard problems
We describe various computing techniques for tackling chessboard domination problems and apply these to the determination of domination and irredundance numbers for queens’ and kings’ graphs. In particular we show that γ(Q15) = γ(Q16) = 9, confirm that γ(Q17) = γ(Q18) = 9, show that γ(Q19) = 10, show that i(Q18) = 10, improve the bound for i(Q19) to 10 ≤ i(Q19) ≤ 11, show that ir(Qn) = γ(Qn) fo...
